Just noticed that when you create a Configurable item, each variant requires a weight >0.0001 while a simple item can have a weight of 0 as a valid numeric entry. It would be nice to have the two consistent with each other.

In our case, we don't ship in a way that needs a true weight. So I was planning to use weight as a shipping code from 0 to 5. Zero means it could qualify for free delivery while 5 would be the highest delivery cost.

The simple items follow that pattern and all a weight of 0. But now configurable items it will not accept the value of 0.

As a matter of consistency, I would expect both simple and configurable items to use the same validation.

        Does that make sense?

Yes, weight validation for both configurable & simple should be same.

            Thanks.

When I see things like this (potential bugs) is it best to go directly to github or to post here first?

if you're getting any bug then first raise issue at github with all the mention steps.
but if you have any exception/query, you can directly raise it here.

              Thanks.
