Text Swatch selection not clear for Configurable Product

I am using V1.5.1 on a server with PHP 8.1.

When configurable attributes are set to Text Swatch, there is no visible signal to a user when they click an option. I am fairly new to Bagisto so I do not know whether this is expected behavior but it feels like there is something missing to me.

I would expect that on clicking an option, the option should have a background-color added to the chosen span to highlight to the user their selection.
