I want to change the process on check out, so it will not create new order no before receive a payment, and I want to display charges on the check out page. What is the best practice so the customization will not be replace when updating newer version?
A more important question is, if I buy marketplace or other plugins, will I get free update?

Hello @aulia, the best way to do a customisation is by creating a separate module of that or extension like we are making the extensions. You can check our User Guide of any extensions regarding their process of installation. By this, you can easily add/remove the extension whenever possible and will not affect the further updates.
Yes you will get free updates once you purchase the marketplace plugin.
