Would Bagisto be good if we do our "sales" offline?
Hi all - I'm the new guy.
I'm trying to decide between rolling my own solution or modifying a pre-existing commerce package... I work at a small company and am rewriting our website. We sell expensive products - but the actual financial transaction is handled offline by accounting. These are expensive products and they choose to avoid processing fees, etc. The current site (the one I'm attempting to replace) is cacka poopies. I basically just need a basic commerce site with categories, etc - Bagisto seems great from what I've seen so far.
What I'm thinking I could do is modify the checkout process so that it becomes "contact sales" or some such. So, view the product, instead of add to cart there's just "contact sales" which takes you through a modified checkout form that just takes your info. I like this because it also tracks inquiries, etc., and I might be able to use this information - what products they inquired about vs. actually purchased, etc.
I imagine if I did it this way, I'd need to add a manual step where the salesman marks the product as sold or not and that sort of thing. But, in reality, they track their financials in accounting anyway - the current site shows a product as available until a salesman marks it sold (very old school around here). What I'm writing here for is - does what I'm saying sound doable in Bagisto?
I'm good with modifying existing code, etc., I just want to choose the right starting point. I'm looking for as much out of the box as possible and I think Bagisto wins for that... any words from the canaries in the coal mine?
